NATAL

NATAL: Israel Trauma Center for Victims of Terror and War is an apolitical nonprofit organization, founded by the late Dr. Yossi Hadar, M.D. who conceived and initiated the idea, and Judith Yovel Recanati who serves as a Chairperson. NATAL was established in 1998 with the aim of increasing public awareness of National Psychotrauma caused by the Israeli-Arab conflict. This form of trauma differs from other forms, as it is the result of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) stemming from national traumas.

Coming Home Project

Early in 2005, Joseph Bobrow, along with veterans and interfaith leaders, began thinking about the need for a community response to meet the challenges faced by Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families.

How could we create a safe place, a welcoming community of compassion and understanding?
How could we bring together the best from psychological trauma research and practice, with stress management tools like mindfulness meditation and yoga, and expressive modalities like writing and drawing, in order to transform trauma and enhance well being?

Burlington City Arts

Coming home from war is a difficult thing. There is often much to account for as a survivor. A new language must be developed in order to express the magnitude and variety of the collective effect. Hand papermaking is the language of Combat Paper. By working in communities directly affected by warfare and using the uniforms and artifacts from their experiences, a transformation occurs and our collective language is born.

Shelter Network

"Shelter Network was established in 1987 to address the growing problem of homelessness on the Peninsula. Through seven programs located throughout San Mateo County, Shelter Network provides short-term and longer-term transitional housing for homeless families and individuals, and permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless adults. Over the past 20 years, we have steadily expanded our capacity, by opening new sites and expanding existing facilities, in order to serve the increasing number of homeless families and individuals in our community.

Blue Card

"In the sunless isolation of a shabby room called home sits a figure whose time on earth has been cursed not once but twice. First was the Holocaust, which ravaged but ultimately spared this life. Curse two is to be living in destitution in a land of plenty.
These are the individuals for which The Blue Card exists.

Jerusalem Rape Crisis Center

"The Jerusalem Rape Crisis Center in Memory of Linda Feldman was founded in 1981, a realization of a dream initiated by a few devoted women aspiring to create a support center for victims of rape and sexual assault, the first of it's kind in Jerusalem, and one of the first in Israel. Since then the JRCC has evolved into the leading human rights organization in Jerusalem devoted to gender equality and combating violence against women and girls.
